Suffolk-based Renvale Ltd. is the longest standing designer and manufacturer of bespoke wiring harness solutions to the Motorsport industry. Since 1982, Renvale Ltd. (previously known as Tony James Component Wiring) has built up an enviable client portfolio spread across F1TM, Formula-E, MotoGP, Superbikes, WRC, WTCR, WEC, IndyCar, and various GT formulae.
In August 2019, Renvale Ltd. moved into a new purpose-built, 1600sqm facility. High quality lighting was vital for their production and inspection team. A lighting designer worked out the lighting needed to achieve the appropriate lumen output. The designer had suggested a different brand to Renvale but then Stanton and Stubbs suggested ROBUS instead as a good quality, cost effective equivalent. Chief Operating Officer of Renvale Ltd., Anthony Moss said; “ROBUS ticked every box in terms of specification, quality, appearance, good value and delivery on time - All the things we look to achieve in our own business”.
Electrical Contractor; Steve Stubbs, then began working on the spec with their ROBUS Area Sales Manager; Matthew Shemming. Steve Stubbs asked Matthew to value engineer the project and provide samples for Renvale Ltd. to trial and approve before they gave the go ahead. Renvale Ltd. were very happy with the samples and awarded the project to ROBUS.
As the Value Engineer for this project, Matthew proposed the best products available to Renvale that suited the location and aesthetic they were looking for. A variety of ROBUS fitting were selected to fit different areas. The main fittings used include; ROBUS ATMOS, ROBUS STELLAR, ROBUS EAGLE, ROBUS KINGSTON and ROBUS BARON.
The ROBUS STELLAR was selected for the main offices as these are UGR19 compliant. This means they provide indirect light and so the installation complies with EU regulation EN12464 for discomfort eye glare and computer screen luminance for desk-based applications. The ROBUS ATMOS was used for the no task areas such as the hallways and canteen area, where UGR19 is not required. 33 ROBUS STELLAR and 133 ROBUS ATMOS were fitted throughout the Renvale Ltd. offices.
ROBUS EAGLE fittings were chosen for their clean edge and light output and they met specification requirements so it could be used in several different areas within the Renvale Ltd. building including; the kitchen, bathroom, changing area and locker rooms. They installed 27 of the ROBUS EAGLE and both the 14W and 24W versions were used.
The workshop area needed to be as bright as possible to ensure the Renvale production team had the very best visibility when manufacturing these types of intricate assemblies. Poor lighting can have a detrimental effect on quality, efficiency and the general wellbeing of the team members, so getting this right was absolutely critical. The ROBUS KINGSTON Low Bays were chosen because they have a total lumen output of 14,870 and they were suspended from the ceilings over the workshop area. 30 X ROBUS BARON 1.8M LED CCT3 Selectable Battens were also used in the workshop to add extra light at workspaces where more direct, adjustable light was needed that was at least 1000 lux. The ROBUS BARON can be manually set to 1,920, 2,190, 2,010 lux and were mounted at a low level in each bay.
Both Stanton & Stubbs Electrical and Renvale Ltd. were very happy with the ROBUS installation.
“Quality is key to our business. Our enviable Motorsport client list is built up over 4 decades, so getting it wrong is not an option. Appropriate lighting is a critical aspect for helping our dedicated production and inspection team get it right for the teams we design and manufacture high quality wiring looms for. Whilst planning our new state of the art facility, we looked at various lighting options. ROBUS ticked every box in terms of specification, quality, appearance, good value and delivery on time - All the things we look to achieve in our own business. Great partners, great products.” – Anthony Moss, Renvale Chief Operating Officer
