Leadership Programme

 “As a company, we are huge believers in developing our people and this was a key part of the decision-making process. We are also strong advocates of succession planning and hence the reason we want to ‘deliver our leaders of the future’”, Michael Slein, Founder Director of ROBUS. For these reasons, Mick asked Mark Prendergast, Founder of Prendergast Leadership to deliver a Leadership Development Programme to a team of ROBUS employees.

Prendergast Leadership was born from 30 years developing high performing military leaders and leading multi-national teams to achieve mission success in complex and hostile environments. The requirement for effective leadership is crucial to success. Military leadership education and the experiences gained from the development of other leaders, coupled with academic study has allowed Prendergast Leadership to meet the leadership needs of business, community and sports groups.

The ROBUS Leadership Development Programme was led by Prendergast Leadership Founder, Mark Prendergast and focused on the development of a variety of leadership competencies including; planning & organising, seeking responsibility, personal motivation, teamwork, resilience, decision making, communications & influencing, problem solving, Creativity, Interpersonal sensitivity and curiosity. These are all very valuable competencies for any future leader to develop.

A group of 12 ROBUS employees from various departments throughout the business were chosen to take part in this programme. They completed modules relating to Coaching & Feedback, Critical thinking and Decision Making among many others. They worked in different team structures over the duration of the course which took place between October 2018 and July 2019.  

On Tuesday 16th July, the group completed the final session of the ROBUS Leadership Development Programme. The feedback from the programme participants was all very positive and managers within the business have already seen a difference in their attitudes to task, problems and projects.
