ROBUS recently completed a lighting retrofit for Dorey Court in Guernsey. ROBUS worked with Amalgamated Facilities Management (AFM) on this project. AFM are a leading Channel Islands based facilities management and building services provider. AFM’s wholesale partner, CI Lighting in Guernsey, introduced them to ROBUS Area Sales Manager Jim Bruce a couple of years ago. Since then, ROBUS have completed numerous projects with AFM including Guernsey Post Office and more recently Moon Pig, Guernsey Waste Transfer, Trafalgar Court, Pauls Motors, Royal Chambers and Bordage House.
AFM’s most recent project with ROBUS was the renovation of Dorey Court, Guernsey. AFM were the main building contractor on this 18-month long project to upgrade the office spaces. The renovation project was designed by Hoare Lea consultants Plymouth whose specification. When his specification came in over budget ROBUS Project Engineer, John Ford, was asked to re-design the project ensuring all regulations were achieved and the Hoare Lea specification was satisfied and within budget.
In order to ensure the installation complied with EU regulation EN12464 for discomfort eye glare and computer screen luminance for desk-based applications, 361 ROBUS STELLAR panels were used to refurbish the offices throughout Dorey Court. The ROBUS STELLAR was chosen as it emits indirect light which reduces glare on monitors. It’s attractive aesthetic also fits very well with the modern interior that AFM wanted in Dorey Court.
55 ROBUS SUN CIRCULAR downlights were used in the lobby area. These low-profile downlights are ideal for installation in shallow ceiling voids. They are clean looking, slim profile, circular fittings that are quick and simple to install and provide exceptional lighting performance, reliability and longevity.
The ROBUS RAMADA downlight was chosen for the elevators in the premises as it is 30, 60 and 90 minute fire tested and complies with regulatory acoustic and air-flow requirements. It has been independently tested for compliance with parts B, C & E of Building Regulations and it’s a smart choice for buildings with many floors. 49 ROBUS RAMADA downlights were used in the elevators in Dorey Court, Guernsey.
ROBUS ETERNITY downlights were selected for the bathrooms throughout the building. These fittings comply with Building Regulation requirements with efficacy values of over 80 luminaire lumens per circuit watt. Designed for optimum performance and reliability, the neutral white versions comply with the Energy Technology Criteria and are eligible for Enhanced Capital Allowances.
Other ROBUS fitting used in Dorey Court include the ROBUS Morphs 20W CCT Selectable, ROBUS VOGUE 20 W bathroom ceiling lights, ROBUS GOLF LED, ROBUS BULKHEAD 4W LED, and ROBUS EAGLE Large emergency 24W.
The ROBUS Fittings above were all chose because their appearance complimented the interior design planned for Dorey Court. While looking sleek and stylish the fittings also met with the lighting regulations which was of utmost importance. John Ford consulted throughout the project and chose fittings to suit the budget and interior style.
